GET UM NOW, IT WON'T
LAST FOREVER!

December 16, 2004.... The ducks have
migrated down to the grasslands in huge numbers and hunters are bagging
easy limits according to my son and grandson who hunted San Luis Refuge
over the weekend. My grandson said they got a mixed bag of mallards, teal
and sprig.
My partners and I moved to the grasslands
to hunt and were greeted with easy limits of mallards, teal and a mixed
bag of other ducks.
Sunday we had early limits, then just sat
and watched flock after flock of teal come into our blocks. There were
blue wing, green wing and cinnamon teal coming and lighting and then
leaving when another flock arrived, if we had been shooting you would not
have been able to load your gun fast enough!
I got a kick out of one little green wing
that came in and sat down in our spread of teal decoys. She would swim
from male decoy to male decoy checking them out for a response. She
checked all of them out, but never even looked at the hen decoys. Finally
a single male green wing lit near her and she swam right over next to him
and snuggled up.
I haven't seen this many teal since my sons
were 8 years old! The ducks are here so get them fast as one day they will
be here and the next they will be gone!
Tim and I wish you all A MERRY CHRISTMAS and A HAPPY NEW YEAR! We will be
taking the next couple weeks off to enjoy the families and our sports! |
