Description
Lake Pillsbury and Scott Dam in Lake County are located on the
Eel River in the Mendocino National Forest. The reservoir is a trout
fishery and was established in 1921 by the construction of Scott
Dam. The dam is a gravel dam. Operated by Pacific Gas and Electric
(PG&E). The campgrounds and surrounding area are operated
jointly by PG&E and the Mendocino National Forest.
On the Upper Lake Ranger District, this lake has 31 miles of
shoreline. Fishing, boating, sailing and waterskiing are popular
activities. The Forest and PG&E manage several developed
campgrounds for individual and group use, boat ramps and picnic
areas around the lake. There is also a private resort with guest
accommodations, a grocery store and fishing boat rentals. Off
Highway Vehicle trails are abundant in the mountains surrounding the
lake, and there is a hang gliding point at nearby Hull Mountain.
