Description
Lake Mendocino is located in the northern coast range of
California where redwood forests meet the wine country. Created by
the construction of Coyote Dam on the East Fork of the Russian River
in 1958. The structure provides flood damage reduction, water
conservation, and hydroelectric power. The lake provides many
recreation opportunities.
More than 300 family campsites are located in Ky-en, Bu-shay and Che-Ka-Ka
campgrounds. All campsites are suitable for both tent and most will
accommodate RV's. Campsite amenities include picnic tables, lantern
holders, and fire rings. The campsites are available on a
first-come, first-served basis. There is a 14 day limit per stay in
a 30 day period.
Boat launching areas are located at each end of the lake with two
6-lane boat ramps. A full service marina at the north end of the
lake offers boat and slip rentals, fuel, camping supplies and a
snack bar.
