Medicine Lake

  • Description
    Medicine Lake is located in the beautiful Modoc National Forest. Once the center of a volcano, this lake is said to be at least 150 feet deep in places. There are four well maintained campgrounds located at the lake suitable for tent, RV, or group camping. All boating is allowed as well as water-skiing, jet-skis, and swimming, There is one improved and two unimproved launch ramps located around the lake.

    Directions to Lake: From McCloud, on Hwy 89; go SE 16 mi. to Bartle, continue past Bartle 0.2 mi. to Forest Rd. 15 (Medicine Lake Rd.). Turn N, go 4.2 mi. to sign to Hambone Lake/Medicine Lake. Turn NE onto Forest Rd. 49, go 26.4 mi. to intersection. Turn L, go 0.3 mi. to STOP. 1) Turn L to boat ramp on Medicine Lake. 2) Turn R, go 1.4 mi., around Medicine Lk., to road and sign to Little Medicine Lake. Turn N, go 100 yds. to lake.
